I was 17 when I left S.A .I'm 23 now and I am still patriotic to a fault. My parents didnt want the burden of worrying about whether their daughter would be raped when she was walking home from sports practice or when she was going out with her friends. This is just one of the factors that contribute to white, coloured and indian people fleeing S.A. The immigration criteria in the various countries we find solice in are tight and more often than not require a solid university qualification. It is this reason mainly that non-blacks tend to migrate.Because their education can be utilised.
I know apartheid was wrong in every shape and form. My parents fought for freedom in our country only for the rules to be changed when it was convenient.The white man did do us a disfavour. However we hold exactly if not more responsibillity now.If we decide to continue the discrimination after fuking knowing what damage it can cause then how dumb are we.How many more generations of fuking south africans yes south africans, I didnt say white, I didnt say black, i sure as hell didnt say charou or coloured did I . I dont know which leader will be intelligent enough to label all people in our beautiful country as south africans and nothing more or less.
I attended a mixed school from 1992 (preschool) all the way into high school until I migrated. So I was able to grow up in an environment where white,black and blue were my friends. I played hockey for Durbs but fell short for KZN because a black person took my place-thats what I wsa told. I mean FUCK. How do we seperate the good from the best if we continue with kind of process.

I'm also a SA in New Zealand. Moved in 2004 after finishing varsity. I think people our age had a completely different experience to what it was like in SA in the 60s/70s/early 80s and it's better for us to be out of there cos then we don't have to deal with all the havoc that has been caused (and that we had nothing to do with). I also feel sad that I can't be with my friends, but I'm happier to be able to walk down the street and see most people getting along with each other.
I feel bad for rendier because his vids are supposed to make viewers understand that not all SAs are racists and that the new government is probably the most racist entity in the country, but as you know people just hear what they want to hear and they accuse him of being a racist because he doesn't support the ANC or BEE. I think it's a massive task that he's trying to achieve and he's a better man than me for even bothering.
The way I see it is that it's virtually impossible to change what people want to believe and I just wouldn't bother trying because it must be so frustrating for him.
Even though I miss my friends, I'm actually very happy in NZ because we don't have to deal with all the issues that rendier talks about - if we choose not to. Call me lazy, but I just think life is too short so I'd rather fill the time that I have with the things I enjoy.
I hope you're enjoying NZ and even though it's great to feel patriotic towards SA, it's also worth remembering that the place isn't what it needs to be for all SAs...I suppose nothings really changed and that's the saddest thing.
